Remove Duplicate Lines: what to know
Remove Duplicate Lines keeps the first copy of every line and removes the rest, without changing the order of the lines that remain. It tells you how many duplicates were removed.
By default the comparison is case-sensitive and ignores spaces at the start and end of lines, so ' apple' and 'apple' are the same line but 'Apple' is different. Turn on 'Ignore case' to treat 'Apple' and 'apple' as duplicates too. Empty lines are kept, since they often separate groups; turn on 'Remove duplicate empty lines' to treat them like any other line.
It handles long lists quickly: hundreds of thousands of lines are processed on your device in a moment.
Popular uses
- De-duplicating email lists and contact exports
- Cleaning keyword lists for SEO and ads
- Removing repeated entries from logs and data exports
- Merging two lists without repeats
Tips for the best result
- To merge two lists, paste one under the other and remove duplicates.
- Turn on 'Ignore case' for email addresses and usernames.
- Sort the result afterwards with Sort Lines if order doesn't matter.
